The beautiful Gothic church Westminster Abbey is located in Westminster, London, England and is a popular tourist attraction. Tradition says that a shrine was first founded in 616 on the present site and later - 960s / 970s - Saint Dunstan, assisted by King Edgar, estavlished a community of Benedictine monks. Westminster School and Westminster Abbey Choir School are also located in the area of the Abbey.

The famous Westminster Abbey organ was built by Harrison & Harrison in 1937. It has four manual and 84 speaking stops and it was used for the first time at the Coronation of King George VI. The Abbey also has two western Gothic towers built between 1722 and 1745 by Nicholas Hawksmoor.

Westminster Abbey has always been an important site in the city of London. The Abbey was in close proximity to the royal Palace of Westminster and the abbot was often employed on royal service. Also, until the 19th century, Westminster was the third seat of learning in England, after Oxford and Cambridge.
