Tower of London

The Tower of London is a majestic historic monument in central London, England on the north bank of the River Thames. Its complete name is Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress The Tower of London, but it is usually called simply the Tower of London or The Tower.
This amazing construction is formed by several buildings, a moat and impressive defensive walls. It has played different roles through history – it’s been a royal palace, a fortress, an observatory, a prison and even a place of torture and execution. Since the 14th century the Tower of London has been the home of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom. The Crown Jewels were stolen from Westminster Abbey, recovered shortly afterwards and then kept safe in the Tower.
