Tower Bridge in London

The magnificent Tower Bridge in London, England, is a very popular tourist attraction and one of the most famous and iconic symbols of the city of London. The bridge was built in the second half of the 19th century as the city needed a new modern construction to cross the River Thames.
In the past Tower Bridge used a series of signals to control the river traffic. During the day there were semaphore signals mounted on control cabins, during the night it used coloured lights (two red lights if the bridge was closed and two green if it was open) and when the city of London was foggy loud gong sounds could be heard in the distance.
