Tate Modern's interior
Tate is a network of four art galleries in England - Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool, Tate St Ives and Tate Modern. It is the United Kingdom state museum of British and modern art.
Tate Modern was opened in 2000 and carried the modern part of the collection. The original building was renamed Tate Britain to house the British part of the collection and nowadays is the national gallery for British art from 1500 to the present day, as well as some modern British art.
Tate Modern is located in Bankside Power Station on the south side of the River Thames. It currently exhibits a beautiful national collection of modern art from 1900 to the present day.
