St.Paul's square 2
St.Paul's square 2

St Paul’s Cathedral is one of London’s most visited sites. It’s a beautiful Anglican cathedral from the 17th century located on Ludgate Hill, in the city of London, England.

In the Great Fire of London in 1666 the previous St Paul’s building was destroyed, so the decision was taken to build a new cathedral in a much modern style. Christopher Wren was assigned the task of designing a new structure and the design was finally accepted in 1675.

The St. Paul’s Cathedral is an elegant building built in a Renaissance style with three stunning domes – an impressive outer dome, an artistic inner dome and between the two a cone that support the apex structure and the outer dome. The famous St Paul’s outer dome was inspired by St Peter’s Basilica in Rome and is considered a true icon of the city of London. The Cathedral’s nave has three small chapels. There are also three circular galleries - the internal Whispering Gallery, the external Stone Gallery and the external Golden Gallery. The amazing Whispering Gallery gets its name because if you whisper against its wall is audible to a listener with their ear held to the wall at any other point around the gallery.
