St.Paul's cathedral dome
St.Paul's cathedral dome

St Paul’s Cathedral is a very famous site in London, England and one of its most visited places. It’s an elegant Anglican cathedral and the seat of the Bishop of London. The legendary wedding between Charles, Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer was celebrated in St Paul’s. The Cathedral was also the place chosen for Britain’s memorial service to honour the victims of the tragic September 11, 2001 attacks and in 2005 the cathedral held the memorial service for the July 7 bombings.

This impressive London cathedral is built of Portland stone and has a sober Baroque style. In 2000 started a major restoration programme that includes repair and cleaning of the building and improvement of the facilities. The programme is expected to end in 2008 and will cost around 40 million pounds.

The interior of St Paul’s Cathedral is extraordinary, with many beautiful details and statues. Its organ is the third-biggest instrument in Britain with 7,189 pipes and 138 stops.
