National Gallery in Trafalgar Square

London 's National Gallery is a beautiful museum founded in 1824. It’s located on the northern side of the animated Trafalgar Square and houses an impressive collection of over 2,000 paintings of famous artists such as Michelangelo (1475 – 1564, Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet & engineer), Raphael (1483 – 1520, Italian painter & architect), Botticelli (1444/45 – 1510, Italian painter of the Early Renaissance), Diego Velázquez (1599 – 1660, Spanish painter) and Rembrandt (1606 – 1669, considered of the greatest Dutch painters), among many others.
The façade of the ‘National Gallery’ was designed by the English architect and archaeologist William Wilkins (1778 - 1839) and is the only part of his original design of the building that hasn’t been changed.
